Challenge Saturday

It's been a lazy day here, so I thought I'd do some challenges. I have 2 different projects for you today, both cards. I've just realized that I haven't been taking a lot of pictures for the past few years so there isn't much of a need for scrapbooks. I still have to put one together of our Alaskan cruise from almost 3 years ago now, crazy!

Anyway, here's my first project for CardzTV. Make a Thanksgiving card "I'm so THankful". I decided not to use my cricut for this card, I don't have any cartridges that would go along with the Thanksgiving theme.

I went old school and just used patterned paper, ribbon and alphabet stickers. The edges of the brown flower were done with 2 way glue and Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The sentiment says "Give Thanks". I have a new favorite base for cards, craft card stock! How have I lived without this product all my life??!! I think it goes great with the colors in the paper also.

My second project is for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. "Seeing Spots" I love polka dots! I decided to change things up a bit and this is a 4x4 card.

I used a cream card stock for the base and inked the edges with a small chalk ink block from S.E.I the color is called "Tiffany" Love!. The sentiment is also stamped in the same color and says "let's go bananas" from My Pink Stamper. The Polka Dot paper is Die Cuts With A View from Animal Crackers mini stack. and finally the critter is from Create A Critter (shocking, I know!)

On a side note, for some reason I was surprised at how much cleaner the cricut cuts with a new blade! :)

Cute Door

Another Pinterest success! So excited.

 Pinterest

 Mine

This was surprisingly easy to do. I just cut out the words with my Cricut. To get the spacing right I used Cricut Craftroom and it cut the whole thing out without having to stop and reposition. I used Planin SchoolBook for the font. It was so easy! I don't have transfer tape so I had to peel off each letter individually, and I spaced it out in Craftroom so it didn't waste any of the
vinyl.

Thanksgiving Squirrl

Hello! Here is a project I did for CardzTV "Fall-o-ween" challenge. It's a bi-fold card with this cute squirrl. The card base was cut at 4x8, scored on each side at 2 to make the bifold. The accent browns were cut at 1 3/4 x 3 3/4 for each side and stamped with a fall pumpkin stamp with a brown stamp. The band is cut at 1 1/2 x 8 1/2 and wrapped around and secured with adhesive so it fits around the card but easily comes off.

The squirrl was cut at 3 inches from Create a Critter (shocking, I know!) and he is popped up on the band. The "pearl-like" beads on the outside were done with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Cream. The inside sentiment says happy thanksgiving, it's from the same set I used for the pumpkins on the outside. I think I got this set from Michaels out of the dollar bin years ago. Hope you like!

Christmas Decor

Oh my goodness, I get so excited for Christmas I can hardly wait to decorate. I've been seeing all these great ideas all over Pinterest for easy DIY decor. I did my first project today. I think it turned out pretty cute!

Here's the original:

Here's how mine came out:

Super easy, just cut cardboard out in desired size and cover with scrapbook paper. Cut out your letters using a die-cutting machine, or maybe even your computer will work. Attach your boards together using ribbon. I'm going to cover mine with Mod Podge once one of my pieces dries.

It's a Girl!

Here's a baby card that I've made for my boyfriends' employees' wife (wow that was a mouthful!) I used Create A Critter, my fav! The elephant was cut at 2 inches. And I actually used the shell part of the snail for the background circle. I made my own action wobble and attached it to the elephant and used fun foam to lift the whole circle up off the page. The background paper is Die Cuts With A View Animal Crackers stack. The stamp I used is from Stampin' Up So Many Sayings.

Hope you like it!

Sssspooky Card

Here's another challenge I decided to play along with. I "heart" making ccards!  Posting to CardzTV

I used the Heritage cartridge and cut out the tree at about 2 3/4". The Stamp is from the $1 bin at Michaels and the cardstock is probably from the combo packs from Michaels also. I don't have a Halloween cartridge and this was the most Halloween-ie image I could find.

Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Bling it Up!

I'm in the crafting mood today! It's been too long. Love making Christmas cards and love the Hoot 'n Holler Cartridge! This is for CardzTV Bling it Up! challenge. For the Bling! I used Stampin' Up Stampin' Glitter. Again I don't have a clue if it is still available, I got it years ago.  The stamp is My Pink Stamper Christmas Wishes. Recenly, Robyn decided to retire so any retailers that carried her product are selling through and will no longer carry it. Makes me sad, I only have 3 of her stamp sets and they're all so cute! The "ribbon" is a poka dot Washi Tape, I think it's part of the Smash Books line.

Birthday Card

So I haven't been in much of a crafting mood lately. We just recently moved from Woodinville, WA to Salt Lake City, UT so these last few weeks have been nuts. In the past 4 weeks, our house sold, I quit my job, packed my entire house and moved out here to SLC. So far I feel like I'm on a perma vacation so that's kinda strange. In a matter of 3 days the house has been unpacked and actually looks like it's lived in now. My craft room is much smaller than it was in Washington and I have to share it with the computer, but I think it will work out ok.

During the move I lost my password to get onto Cropped Event so I can't participate in the video crop but can do some of the challenges. This one was to just use teal and 7 circles so I made a Birthday Card. I am totally a sucker for brown and teal so I used brown ribbon.

I used the Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge and since I don't have a gypsy, I cut 2 circles and put them together with brads.

Enjoy!

Cropped Event

I am so excited! I got an email today that my Mystery Box for Megan Elizabeth's Cropped Event got shipped today and should be here in a couple days! OMG I am so excited. There's something like $70 in retail items in this box plus admission to the web event for an entire weekend! I can't wait to see what's in this box!! I will share when it arrives and will be posting the projects I do for this fun event!

ba'be

Now I know why card making is so popular. Don't get me wrong, I love to scrapbook and make scrapbook mini albums and pages, but there's just something so satisfying about making a card. They're quick and you get instant gratification for a completed project! I'm not a very fancy girl so I'm finding that my cards are so simple but cute! I made this one using the Best of 2006 cartridge and it said it is originally from Doodlecharms. (I have actually been debating on whether or not to get Doodlecharms).

The image was cut at 2 3/4 inches and the card is a regular A2 size. I used Stampin' Up papers Gable Green and Pixie Pink. I have no idea if these colors are still available, I got them almost 4 years ago, but love the pink and green color combination!

I believe the ribbon is from Hobby Lobby. I love the ribbon selection there, especially in the fabric section of the store! It seems to be a lot cheaper than Michaels.

I found the sticker in my box of baby stickers and thought that it would be cute. The little pearl looking dots on the butterfly and under the ribbon are made using a Viva Decor Pearl Pen, sorry I can't remember the name of the color but it's a white-ish color.

I will be submitting this card on 3 challenges:

Anything goes at CardzTV
Oh, Baby challenge at My Craft Spot
Anything goes at Die Cuttin Divas
and
A Recipe challenge at The Cricut Chirp

Enjoy!

Christmas in July 2

I LOVE making Christmas cards! These challenges are so fun to participate in and give me inspiration to be creative and craft.  I'll submitting this card to CardzTV Christmas in July 2, use a snowman or snowflake on a Christmas card.  Diecuttindivas Challenge #74 Christmas in July, no rules looks like anything goes. Go Fish Challenges Challenge # 21.  And finally DL.Art Thankful Thursday Challenge.  I think I have to make this fast, it's pretty hard to concentrate with my dog snoring right beside me :)

This card was made using the Christmas Cards Cartridge. I have to say this was a little challenging to use. The cartridge is designed to cut out a card and then cuts the images out to scale to the card you are trying to cut. So this snowman was cut at 8" with card saver mode on. I finally got smart and cut a test cut with a piece of plain paper and was able to come to the final decision of size.

The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper, Christmas Wishes

I made my own little Action Wobble using a piece of wire and paper. You can find the YouTube video here. They are so easy to make!

The only thing I added was a rhinestone to the top of the hat where the white hat ball is.

Say it with Sentiments and Cricut Cardz Challenge

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog.  I was originally making this card for a challenge over at Paper Playtime for her Say it With Sentiments Challenge to make a Miss You card.  Like I've said before, I LOVE the Create a Critter Cartridge so of course I used that cartridge for this challenge!  After I finished my project for the Say it With Sentiments Challenge, I just happened to notice that Mary over at CardzTV Wednesday's Cricut Cardz Challenge was to use a tag, and it just so happened that I used a tag for this card since I used a decorative background, I didn't have anywhere to put my sentiment.  Isn't this lion just the cutest?!  The tag is cut from 2 Circle punches I think the bigger one is 1 1/2 and the smaller one is 1 1/4.  This is a regular A2 sized card, the card is cut in black at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 folded in half.

All the cardstock is Recollections from Michaels
Lion is from Create a  Critter
Background paper is from a mini stack, Safari Chic from Die Cuts With a View
Orange Ribbon is probably from Michaels
Sentiments are My Pink Stamper Stamps, That's Punny-licious

Since I used a black card, I had to put a piece of white card stock on the inside and just used the same orange ribbon to tie it all together.

Red, Orange and Blue Color Challenge

Hi everyone!  I'm going to try another challenge, this one is from www.eadesigns.com/blog  Check out the challenge here.  I made a boy birthday card using the Create a Critter Cartridge.  What did I say, I just love this cartridge! I think I cut the crabby crab and the sandcastle at 2 1/2 inches.  I cut the sandcastle with the Real Dial Size button on, I'm finding that most of the houses that are connected with the critters are really big, they are meant to be proportionate.  I think I cut the flag at 3/4 inch with Real Dial Size on and Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. If you do this and use the Real Dial Size, don't forget to turn it back off! I forgot and went to use my Cricut the next day and had to re cut my image! Oops!

Bachelorette Card

Thought this would be a cute card for a friend of mine who is getting married in August. Not a whole lot of fanciness going on, but I think it has the perfect amount of bling with the little rhinestones on the bras. I was going to add some ribbon to it, but decided not to cause I couldn't decide where to put it.  The turquoise paper is from Michaels as is the green polka dot card stock. I used the Forever Young Cricut cartridge and I think the stamp was just one of those stamps you find in the $1 at Michaels.  I popped up the small set of lingerie.  My original idea was to make an actual card out of either the bra or underwear but when I went to cut it out, for some reason I had my sizing all messed up.  Enjoy!

Sympathy Card

It's a beautiful day here in the Pacific Northwest and I am completely unmotivated to do anything outside.  I should be doing yard work or going to the dog park, but instead I am staying inside doing chores and doing crafts.  In between loads of laundry and dishes I squeezed in this card for a friend of mine that has just lost her boyfriend to esophageal cancer.

This was a very simple card, I just used the Cindy Loo cartridge, cut out the doiley and 2 of the shadow features and attached them on the side with some adhesive and come eyelets.

Hope you enjoy it!

Something new

I thought I would tray something new. I enjoy looking at other craft blogs decided to give it a try. I am a scrapbooker, card maker and some other miscellanous crafts.  I recently just purchased a Cricut machine and I LOVE it!  I have found that I sometimes stay up until 2am just playing with it!  The picture is of my dogs when the Golden Retriever was just a puppy, he is no longer that tiny 75 pounds of pure energy now!
